The 49 tips for making GREAT presentations

Tip 2… work backwards; it’s the context which is key, slides come last!

March 23, 2022
1 minute read

Steve Jobs
  • He’s one of the most famous presenters in the world, the founder of Apple computers, Steve Jobs.
  • He perfected the art of corporate presentations & it’s from watching him that I learnt many of my presentation tips.
  • The presentations which he made to introduce Apple products literally made trillions of dollars, so not a bad example for us to follow…

Pixar
  • Steve Jobs is best known for Apple, but he was involved in Pixar too. Pixar makes animated films & films are another form of presentation.
  • The company has never had a dud, always great films, because as Jobs explains in the video, they make the movies backwards; they film them last.
  • You should do the same with your presentation. Create it first, make the slides last.

Content is king
  • As jobs points out, it’s the story or content which is the key to a great movie not the technology you use.
  • I’ve often seen other presentation teachers tell students that it’s the way you present & not what you present which the audience will react to (voice & body movement).
  • I completely disagree. Like movies, It’s the content (you create first) which is the key.

Hope this helps!

Happy presenting!

See you next time!

Sebastian
